Background & Certificates
William, a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI), is from the UK, and was born in Wimbledon in South-West London. He went to the University of Leicester, studying Business and Finance. It’s been clear from a young age that he has an interest in finance, and this was always going to be his expected career path.
Either side of his university study, William went on two 6-month trips which took him across Asia, Australasia and Europe. It was on the first of these trips that he discovered China, and his fascination with the country began.
The Trayford family are no strangers to the expat life, his uncle and aunt moved to Hong Kong in the 1980s and his mum spent some years in Geneva before he was born. Attracted to the adventure of living abroad, in 2013, William packed up his life in London and moved to Shanghai. Two years later he joined the deVere Group to follow his dream of working in financial services.
A passionate cricketer and footballer, William captains both a cricket team and football team in Shanghai! He is proud to be contributing to a great expat community.
William considers himself incredibly lucky to be able to work in a dynamic country such as China, for an innovative company such as deVere Group and in a role where his passion for helping people is combined with his love of finance. Recently married to his wife, Serena, he plans to be living in China for the foreseeable future.
